Howdy!

Yes, today is National S’mores Day and we were sure to observe it on Make & Take Monday yesterday. Teresa Case was the hostess with the mostest showing folks the tips and techniques of using Glimmer Mists. The card was inspired by camping memories including trees and maps. A bit of a stretch but it gave me an excuse to make a S’mores casserole and share it. It is sooo good! Yes, I’m still enjoying it today.

Tattered Florals Sizzix Die and Cuttlebug
Olive Vine Glimmer Mist and Fanciful Stencils by Tattered Angels
Black Brad, Paper Piercer and Pad
Adhesive, Brayer and Spray Box

How To:
Lay flourish stencil over white card stock and mist with Olive Vine Glimmer Mist. Remove stencil and allow to dry. Edge squares of decorative paper with Onyx Black VersaFine and adhere near the bottom of the misted white panel. Stamp Swirly Tree Border with Onyx Black aligned on the right side of the card, just above the decorative papers. Die cut flowers using Wild Berry paper. Create a layered and shaped flower with Wild Berry and Kraft papers, held in place with a brad through the misted white card stock. Designed by Rani Macias and Lisa Taylor.

Our next Make & Take Monday is August 23. I have no idea what we’ll do but you know we’ll have fun!

Yesterday’s Make & Take was a sneak peak to Wednesday’s What’s New Pussycat? We have brought in Memory Box’s “What’s in the Box Holiday” release, the first time I’ve ever ordered one of their sight unseen, whole nine yards packages. Very cool! We will be releasing all of it tomorrow at 3pm for WNP, but I decided to use one of the Make & Take kits they included for yesterdays M&Ts.

Oh my, Christmas in July! This was a huge success as we sold out of all the paper and stamps that were featured. Many of the customers commented how they love the simple elegance and were amazed at how just a bit of glitter can add so much. Many of you know how much I love glitter (not!) and were surprised to hear I had used loose glitter for this card. You can read all about the commentary on our Facebook page. Fred B. Mullett even threatened a Sparkle Intervention.

On to the card!

Christmas in July by Memory Box Supplies:
Poinsettia Outline (D1396)
Holly Jolly (Mistletoe) Card Stock
Dill A2 Note Card
Red Card Stock
Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
Canary Yellow Jewel Stickers
R29 Lipstick Red and YG67 Moss Copic Markers
Glue Pen and red glitter
Sparkle Sweeper
Glue Stick and Brayer

How To:
Stamp Poinsettia Outline on “plainer” text portion of Holly Jolly with Tuxedo Black ink. Color with Copic Markers. Adhere to red card stock. Apply Glue Pen and glitter, doing a few petals at a time. Set aside to dry. Adhere Holly Jolly pattern to front of note card. Dust extra glitter off using Sparkle Sweeper. Adhere Poinsettia image to card front. Designed by Memory Box.

Hopefully you can join us tomorrow for What’s New Pussycat? from 3-7pm. Remember the shop is closed until 3pm. Our next Make & Take is Monday, July 26.

See ya!

Yesterday was the latest offering in the world of Make & Take Mondays. I enjoyed working with one of Tim Holtz’s On the Edge die cuts to make the red layer. It was good to remember that stickers can be the focal point, especially when you add Stickles! I heard from a lot of customers they appreciated the clever card that could be easily reproduced for multiple cards. Thinking ahead for Christmas cards, perhaps? On to the card!

Our next Make & Take is Monday, July 12, two days before What’s New Pussycat?. Perhaps we’ll have a little preview at Make & Take. Hmm…

Howdy!

I’ve been waiting for the right time to share this fabu creation by Mary Ann Jones. When is the right time to share artwork? Well, when you’re waiting for a shipment of Tim Holtz stuff… and it arrives… that’s a good time.

Mary Ann made this fabu wall hanging for her friend and I just love how it turned out! A little steampunk, a little altered, and a lot cool! She used many of Tim’s products, including alcohol inks, Grungeboard, metal embellishments and techniques she’s learned from him along the way. It was all created on a piece of heavy chipboard, 6×6 or 8×8. A great size to work on and for a wall hanging.

Just last Friday I was rearranging things to make room for new Tim Holtz products and restock.
• Sizzix Dies including On the Edge
• Sizzix Embossing Fades
• Sizzlits Strip Dies
• Grungepaper
• Tissue Tape
and we have all sorts of other goodies from Tim in stock too.

Here’s the card I made for Dad for Father’s Day, using some of Tim’s metal gears.

I embossed a piece of Pearl metal from Ten Seconds Studio with the Clockworks embossing folder by Cuttlebug. I sanded it, exposing the silver metal below. I added a few Tim Holtz embellishments and adhered it to the front of the card. The phrase is stamped on red card stock that I cut from one of Tim’s dies then edged with black ink. Easy, fun and Dad loved it!

Mother Nature may not be cooperating, but I’m ready for some sunshine! We have all sorts of beach, water and summertime themed papers and stamps in stock right now.

Here’s a card I made for a Summer themed swap. I used papers from the new BoBunny Sun Kissed collection and one of Tim Holtz’s new Embossing Fades Folders. It’s embellished with a touch of bling and a butterfly punched from a paper scrap.

I did stamp inside! I used “Sending Sunshine” by Hero Arts.

Fun and simple. Yes, it’s a 6″ square card but just mail it in a rectangle envelope and it won’t cost as much to mail.

I’m off to go work the other new BoBunny collection onto the sales floor: Peacock Lane. Beautiful purples & teals. See ya soon!

Howdy!

Yesterday we had fun playing with stamps by Layers of Color, a stamp company here in the Northwest. Woodinville, WA in fact. Their catalog is the one we’re taking special orders from through tomorrow, so pop down here and check out all the other cools stamps they have. They’ve just added stencils to their collection, too. Great to use when air brushing or spritzing Glimmer Mists or other pretty spray products.

I designed this card to work for Father’s Day with it’s richer colors and more masculine textures. Remember, there are a lot of dads out there who enjoy working in their garden. We could have easily made it more feminine by adding bling, a floral embossed texture, ribbon and used softer colors. This design is good for everyone! On to the card!

How To:
Stamp butterfly on solid side of Turquoise Dot with Onyx Black VersaFine. Edge using Sponge Dauber and Onyx Black ink. Adhere to Real Teal cardstock. Emboss dark brown cardstock with squared design A2 folder in Cuttlebug. Adhere to left side of note card. Mount butterfly image onto note card with foam tape. Stamp Wonderful with Onyx Black VersaFine in lower right corner. Embellish inside of card with coordinating strips of cardstock. Designed by Lisa Taylor.

Yesterday was another fun filled day featuring our guest Make & Take host, Teresa Case. She shared with us all the ways of the Copic Air Brush system featuring their air compressor. Wow. That is a cool tool! I want one for the studio right away! Here’s what she did:

Copic Air Brush Silhouette Supplies:
Garden Silhouette by Hero Arts
Birthday Centers by Cornish Heritage Farms
White A2 Note Card and card stock
Violet Dot by BoBunny
Chartreuse (Mimosa) by SEI
Onyx Black VersaFine Ink
Mega Scallop Oval Punch and Super Oval Punch
Copic Markers: 0, BV04, G85, RV04, V04, V06, V09, V15, YG00, YG63
Copic Air Compressor
White Sheer Ruffle Edge
Scissors, Adhesive, Foam Tape, Brayer, Acrylic Block

How To:
Air brush a piece of white card stock with green Copic markers on bottom third. Use the purple colors on the top two-thirds. Stamp Garden Silhouette with Onyx Black VersaFine and trim with scissors. Adhere to white card stock layer. Adhere Violet Dot to front of white A2 note card. Edge Chartreuse with black ink and adhere to card front. Adhere flower panel to card front. Stamp phrase on Violet Dot and punch out with oval. Punch scalloped oval out of black card stock and adhere phrase oval. Adhere a strip of ribbon behind oval and mount to card front. Designed by Teresa Case & Christy Wood.

Isn’t that a fun and beautiful card? If you love the stamp image but don’t have a way to do airbrushing, you could also stipple or sponge color onto the white card stock. There’s always an option in this wonderful world of stamping!

Our next Make & Take Monday is June 14. Flag Day. We’ll see if we do something with that. Mark you calendar and plan on joining us!

See ya!
